Privacy Policy

This policy covers two separate things: the GanttRight application you install on your computer and this website. They handle data very differently, so they are described separately rather than blended into one vague statement.

The Application — GanttRight for Windows

Your plans stay on your computer.

• Project files (.gtrt) are saved wherever you choose to save them, on your own disk or your own network drive.
• Preferences are stored in a settings file kept with the application. When GanttRight is installed from the Microsoft Store, Windows places that file in your own per-user application data folder instead, because packaged applications cannot write to their install location.
• There is no GanttRight account. We do not operate a sign-in, hold credentials, or identify you in any way. Installing from the Microsoft Store uses your Microsoft account and Windows manages the license. That part is handled by Microsoft under their own privacy policy; we receive none of it.
• There is no analytics, no telemetry, no usage tracking, and no crash reporting.
• The application does not connect to the internet. It has no facility for transmitting your plans and we have no ability to read them. Windows itself performs Store license checks for packaged apps; that traffic is Microsoft's and carries nothing about your plans.

This means we cannot recover a lost project for you and we cannot see a bug that happens on your machine. That is a deliberate trade: it is the same property that means nobody else can see your plans either.

If a future version adds anything that uses the network — an update check, for instance — this section will be changed before that version ships. The date at the top will change with it.

This Website

The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Even a site that asks you for nothing records some information simply by being reachable.

Server Logs

• Cloudflare records requests to this site, including IP address, the page requested, browser user-agent, and a timestamp. Under data protection law an IP address counts as personal data. That is why it is named here rather than glossed over.
• These logs exist for security and to keep the site running. They are retained by Cloudflare under their own retention periods. We do not build profiles from them or combine them with anything else.
• Cloudflare may set a security cookie to distinguish people from automated traffic. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.

Analytics and Cookies

• There is no Google Analytics or any comparable tracking on this site.
• We set no cookies of our own and there are no advertising or social media trackers.

The Contact Form

• We receive the name, email address, topic, and message you submit.
• The form is processed by FormSubmit, a third-party service that forwards the submission to us by email. What you type passes through their systems on the way, so their handling is covered by their own privacy policy rather than this one.
• It is used to answer you and for nothing else. We do not add contact-form senders to the mailing list.
• Once forwarded, your message lives in our email inbox and is kept only as long as it is useful for answering you or following up on an earlier conversation. We do not keep a separate database of submissions.
• If you would rather not use a third-party form, email us directly instead. The address is at the end of this policy.

The Mailing List

• If you sign up, we store your email address, the date you joined, and the IP address the sign-up came from.
• It is used to email you about GanttRight releases and changes. It is not sold, rented, or shared. It is not used for anything else.
• Every email includes a one-click unsubscribe link. You can also ask us to remove you at any time and we will, without asking why.

Your Rights

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Write to the address below and we will act on it. Because we hold so little, these requests are usually answered the same week.

Nothing in the application is covered by such a request, because we never receive it in the first place.

Children

GanttRight is a tool for planning work and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.

Changes to This Policy

If what we collect changes, this page changes first and the date at the top is updated. We will not quietly begin collecting something this page says we do not.
